John Michael Kohler Arts Center

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center presents a contemporary American art with an emphasis on craft-related forms, folk traditions, new genres and the work of self-taught artists. One gallery presents works from the Arts/Industry Program, which brings artists to work in studios within the 91ÇÑ×Ó. factory. Another gallery features interactive mediums for children. There are eleven galleries in all to explore.

JMKAC is a not-for-profit organization established in 1967 for aesthetic and educational purposes. Its mission is to encourage and support innovative explorations in the arts and to foster an exchange between a national community of artists and a broad public that will help realize the power of the arts to inspire and transform our world.

Art Preserve: John Michael Kohler Arts Center

The Art Preserve is an experimental space designed to house the Arts Center’s collection of over thirty-five artist-built environments. More than a building, it is a platform for ongoing explorations and investigations into these environments, their makers, and the Arts Center’s role as their institutional steward. It embodies the Arts Center’s conviction that significant, original, and compelling works of art are created everywhere, by people from a broad spectrum of life experiences.

Waelderhaus

The Waelderhaus, completed in 1931, was built in the architectural style of the Bregenzerwald region of Austria, ancestral home of the Kohler family. This "house in the woods" overlooking the Sheboygan River features stained glass, rich carvings, woodcuts, wrought iron and more designed by Kaspar Albrecht, a talented Austrian sculptor and architect.

Wade House Historic Site & Wesley Jung Carriage Museum

The everyday world of a small 1860s Wisconsin community comes to life at the renowned Wade House Historic Site, a scenic 17-mile drive from the Village of Kohler. Authentically costumed guides lead tours at the Stagecoach Inn, forge iron at the Dockstader Blacksmith Shop, and demonstrate the sawyered craft at the Herrling Sawmill, the nation's only working reproduction of a muley-type up-and-down sawmill. Visitors enjoy a relaxing horse-drawn carriage ride from the Wesley Jung Carriage Museum, featuring the state’s largest collection of horse-drawn wagons and carriages.

Kohler-Andrae State Park

The fascinating rolling sand dunes and unique wildlife make Kohler-Andrae State Park a must for outdoor-minded visitors. Located just 11 miles south of the city of Sheboygan on the shores of Lake Michigan, the park features all-purpose trails that range from 1.3 to 4.3 miles in length.
